Audio Tape Moments in Film: Volume 2

Fame (1980)

An iconic moment in this film, and one that the cassette had to have been made for. It was the done thing of the time...pop a cassette in your car stereo, windows down, doors open and hey presto; a mobile disco.

A bit of Trivia for you...when this scene was filmed, the music they are actually dancing to is Hot Stuff by Donna Summer. The Irene Cara Fame track was not completed during the movie filming and so had to be edited in during post production...(note that some explicit language is used)

Fame is available on DVD and Blu-ray and a full soundtrack can also be purchased.

Footloose (1984)

Here's Kevin Bacon in the original Footloose movie using dance and the track 'Never' by Moving Pictures to let off some steam. Check out the glove-box when he reaches for a cassette...yep, we really did fill our cars with that many tapes.

Footloose (1984) is available on DVD and Blu-ray and a full soundtrack can also be purchased.

Say Anything (1989)

Who cannot forget one of the tape cassettes biggest friends...the Boom Box not-so-portable stereo player. Although the player itself was big, so was the sound and it was a must have for the bedroom of someone growing up in the 80's.

Here's Lloyd, played by John Cusack using the Peter Gabriel track 'In Your Eyes' to show his love for Diane, played by Ione Skye, back to him...

Say Anything is available on DVD and Blu-ray and a full soundtrack can also be purchased.
